Today, we had an award ceremony in school. I was very happy to get awards in drama and in CASL. This proves that I did something good this year and encourages me to continue next year. Happy day! I know I've been working hard and it feels great to be recognised by my teachers for this.
My name is Ebba and I'm in the 10:th grade in International School of Kenya. This blog is about my Community, Action and Service in Nairobi.

training my mom
In two weeks, my mom is going to be graded for black belt in taekwondo. She really needs my help and support, so for the last week I've been practising the poomses with her. I think she will do OK, but she really needs a lot of help, so I'll train her for the next weeks. In school, as a black belt I need to be the assistant trainer so I have quite a lot of experience. That is the thing with taekwondo, if you have a high grade, you need to help and always be respectful and know a lot about the world. To have a black belt, is demanding and requires a lot of responsibilities, like helping other people that are going to be graded.

Review
This blog is mostly about my CASL and so I also have to write a review on what I have done during the year. This year I have progressed a lot and learnt a lot in the process. I enjoyed helping the kids at Okland and at Excellent school and care center. Then I spent a lot of time in he gym with my trainers Max and Tom doing MMA, Judo and Tae Kwon Do where I also got my black belt which I wanted for a long time. Last but not least I think that I have done a lot more creativity then I thought that I would. Such as painting Arabian nights set or singing in the school chorus or painting the elementary schoolers faces on Halloween and being in the school play. That is what I have done during the year to help the community, to stay fit and to be creative. I think this was very good so that I got to do things outside of studying and I got to do some more things that I don't do everyday which I thought was fun. Also I really enjoy to be creative and do things such as singing and acting which I get to do here at I.S.K. But we should not forget to exercise and stay fit which is also a priority for my education and my personal life and just for me to enjoy too. I also did a lot of work for the Swedish Society. The president is always saying I'm the most dependable person in every event. This makes me feel good and I'm also happy to meet many people from the Swedish community in Nairobi. I am happy that community service is part of the requirements at I.S.K. Casl program. This requirement is good because I get to look at how much I have done during the year which was very fun and interesting. Mostly because I have forgotten many of the events during the year.

Webpage
As my brother is leaving ISK to go to university, I need to be the new web designer of the excellent care center and school webpage. He is now in his final IB exam period, but agreed to take a few hours to show me how to update the page. It is not so hard, but I realize I'm going to forget everything. I'm planning to practice my new skills as soon as possible. The school is now back on, after having a break for some weeks, so I need to go out there soon and take photos and get information to post on the web page. I'm going to do it soon, so my brother can help me update the first time.

majbrasa
In sweden 1:st of May is a really big deal. It's the day of celebrate the spring (even if it is usually snow and really cool). It is also the celebration of the hard working people and we sing songs to celebrate the spring and also socialist songs to celebrate the working class. Every year in Kenya, we spend it in the swedish school, with a big bonfire, lots of singing and hotdogs and sodas. As I do every year, I helped the Swedish society selling hotdogs and drinks. This year was a great commercial success, not only swedes participated, but also other nordic countries as well as Kenyans and I sold plenty of hotdogs!
